Chain letter

There are a bewildering number of Environmental links on the WWW. The overall effect is of a 'chain-letter', as everyone collects each others links and republishes them for the next person to grab (sorry collate) and republish.

We of course do the same, but call it 'research', in our version we have tried filter it somewhat by having a cascading effect as follows:-


 

Mirrored Homepages

  1. Sites that we first visited in 1997 and 'Photocopied' and then most recently visited again in June 2008

  2. Sites that we first visited in 1997 but, because they were image intensive, we extracted the 'Meat and Links' using a 'Pagebot'.

  1. Sites that various search engines have pulled up, that feature the words 'Contaminated Land' somewhere on the site, once again these will be visited in the near future


 

Images are vanity

A few words of caution however, this site, as you are aware, is an image-free zone (you know the phrase "just say No! to images" - you get recognition that way from your elders and betters, but your peers think you are a Wally !).

Well in the interests of Wallydom (and bandwidth preservation) we surf the Web with our images turned-off, - thus the results of links explored in the first category (Sites that we have visited) are shown in all their glory - with or without "ALT-tags" (and you know its not Safe-surfing if you don't use an ALT-tag - but not enough people do unfortunately). As Shakespeare might well have said

"Images are Vanity, ALT tags are Sanity"
